The mansion was built in 1828 and was designed with federal architecture. The home is located on 22 acres and was home of the former Secretary of State, James Buchanan. James paid $9,000 for the property at the time. The mansion was home to James for 20 years until his death in 1868.

The Herr Family Homestead is a fine example of a Lancaster County farm property. This historical site features 55 acres (22.2 ha) of the original 92-acre (37 ha) property owned by members of the Herr family since 1844. The public is welcome to visit and explore the history and traditions of Pennsylvania's Germans.

The Demuth Museum boasts permanent and rotating exhibits focusing on the life and works of well-known artist Charles Demuth. The museum is located in the home of the Demuth family, which is one of the oldest homes in Lancaster. It was built late in the 18th century and is presently open year-round, with the exception of January, for tours. The hours of operation are from Tuesday to Saturday form 10am to 4pm and Sunday from 1pm to 4pm.

Visit and understand the Amish way of life. The farm is fully operational and tours are available. Located on the farm is an Amish House, which features authentic furnishings, clothing, kitchens and more. Visit the museum, which includes early Americana objects. A gift shop sells many handcrafted reminders of the Amish culture.

The Rock Ford Plantation was built in 1794 by General Edward Hand. The mansion is styled in a Georgian architecture and is built from brick. Many of the fixtures are the originals. The house has been open to the public since 1960 and is one of the most complete and best preserved 18th century homes in Pennsylvania. The plantation is open from April until October, Thursday through Sunday from 11am until 3pm.

Not only is the Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church important structurally, as is was built in 1879, but it is also socially significant. This location was part of the Underground Railroad and helped numerous slaves escape into the free community of Lancaster. Tours of the church are available Tuesday through Friday from 10am to 6pm.
